Previously manufactured by Anciens Éstablissements Pieper in Herstal Liége, Belgium. This company is best known for their semi-auto pistol manufacture. It produced a .177 cal., SP, BBC, SS air rifle for HyScore of New York, post-WWII. A mounted knight logo and "Bayard" may be stamped on the side of the body tube. Has a buttplate with cast letters "BELGIUM" in a vertical column. There are two known versions. One has a spring-loaded J-shaped pellet seating device on top of the breech. Very well made with hand checkered hardwood stock. Very good condition specimens sell in the $100-$200 range. Add $50 for pellet seating model.
