Previous maker and distributor of air pistols located at 45 High Street, Boston, MA. Founded by American engineer, Augustus Bedford, about 1875. Bedford evidently operated without a partner at first, manufacturing, or at least selling the Henry Quackenbush designed "Rifle Air Pistol". Bedford later developed airgun patent 172,376, issued January 18, 1876, covering moving the barrel more forward and loading an airgun with a cam sealing bolt action. He joined with George W. Walker who had patent 179,984, issued July 18, 1876, which further improved the bolt action, to form Bedford and Walker, to produce a new design airgun, known as the Bedford & Walker Eureka. Ref. Groenewold (2000).
