Sauer & Sohn GmbH, SIG-Sauer Inc., SIG-Sauer GmbH and SAN Swiss Arms AG. The Hämmerli CO2 rifles and pistols were the first true precision CO2 guns in the world. This is only a partial listing of models, with preliminary information. Additional research is underway and more information will be presented about Hämmerli airguns in future editions of this guide.
A devastating fire in 1977 destroyed the production lines for precision CO2 guns. Some recent airguns bearing the Hämmerli name have been built to much more economical standards than the pre-1977 models. Hämmerli recently has served as a distributor of BSA and El Gamo airguns, but the claims that any of the Hämmerli brand airguns were made by other companies evidently is not true.
Beginning in 2007, Umarex USA took over the importation and marketing of a new Hämmerli sport airgun product line with some models not manufactured in Switzerland. These sport airguns will be marked Umarex USA. As of 2007, all Hämmerli match/target airguns are still being manufactured in Switzerland.
