Navigating the Website

How do I find the book, CD-ROM, or subscription that I`d like to buy?

Use the menu that`s across the top of every page on our site to select the category you are interested in.

I am having problems logging in. What do I do?

Be sure your browser is accepting cookies. Additionally, check to ensure you have entered in your email address and password correctly. Finally, if it says "Login failed" when you try to log in, please click "Reset Password". This will email you a new password, consisting of letters, numbers, and symbols. If you are still having trouble logging in, please contact us at support@bluebookinc.com or 1-800-877-4867, ext. 3 for help.

What is the best browser to use on your site?

We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox for our site. Other browsers may work, but these two are known to be compatible with our site.


Placing an Order

How do I complete my order?

Click on "Cart" near the top of the page to view your shopping cart. Then click the "Check Out" button. Then simply complete the checkout process as prompted.

How do I know that my order went through?

You will see an order confirmation screen and you should receive a confirmation email when your order is completed. Be sure to allow emails from support@bluebookinc.com into your inbox. If you don`t receive this email confirmation, you may contact us at 1-800-877-4867 or support@bluebookinc.com to inquire about your order. You can also check your order history by clicking on "My Account" and then "Completed Orders" on most pages on our website. 

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards as valid forms of payment. We do not accept PayPal. 

What is your return policy?

Blue Book Publications, Inc. guarantees all of our products including our books, CD-ROMs, and online subscriptions. If for any reason you are not satisfied with one of our products, you can return it to us within 30 days and we will give you a full refund in the same form as the original payment type. Please contact Customer Service by calling toll-free 1-800-877-4867 ext. 3 (International: 952-854-5229) or by email at: support@bluebookinc.com for more information regarding our refund policy. 

Correction of Errors and Inaccuracies; Limitations on Quantity; Returns; Risk of Loss

Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items on our web site may be mispriced. As part of our shipping procedures, we verify price before an item is shipped out. We reserve the right to limit quantities.

  • If an item's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and ship you the item.
  • If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price we will cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation via email.

Shipping and Delivery

Will I automatically receive a tracking number for my shipment?

We only supply tracking numbers for UPS Ground. If you selected UPS Ground for a shipping method, you may call or email us for the tracking number. Please keep in mind that it can take up to one business day for the tracking number to be generated.

What shipping methods are available?

We have three domestic shipping methods available: UPS Ground, Priority Mail, and USPS Media Mail. We also have one standard shipping method for international orders. When you check out, you will see the shipping options and costs that are available for your order.

The cheapest, but slowest, method is Media Mail, which is through the United States Postal Service. This class is similar to fourth class, and usually costs about $5-7 for the average order.

Priority Mail is through the United States Postal Service. It is more expensive than Media Mail, but generally arrives more quickly. An order for one, average-sized item sent using Priority Mail generally costs $15-17.

UPS Ground is more expensive, but generally arrives more quickly than Media Mail. An order for one, average-sized item via UPS usually costs about $10-12. Note: a physical address is required for UPS Ground service. UPS cannot deliver to a P.O. box.

International shipping costs vary widely depending on your location and the weight of your order. Please consult the rate shown when you go through the checkout process.

When will I receive my order?

If you selected Media Mail as your shipping method, you can expect to receive your order within 1-2 weeks. If you live close to Minnesota, the delivery time will be closer to one week, and if you live on the east coast, in the south, or on the west coast, the delivery time will be closer to two weeks.

If you selected UPS Ground shipping, you can expect to receive your order within 3-7 business days, depending on your location. The delivery times below include a one-business-day processing period. IMPORTANT: If you need an item by a specific date, please place your order by phone at 1-800-877-4867, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, CST. These delivery times are usually accurate, but we cannot guarantee these delivery times for Internet orders due to occasional delays in processing time.

If you selected UPS Ground shipping, and you live in: Then you can expect delivery in about:
Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Iowa 2 business days
North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, or Kentucky 3 business days
Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, or Montana 4 business days
Washington, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, or Alaska 5 business days
Idaho, Oregon, or California 6 business days

If you selected international shipping (for all overseas and international orders, including Canada), the delivery time will depend on your location and the weight of your order. Your order may take up to four weeks to arrive if the weight of the order is 4.4 pounds (2 kg) or less. If your order weighs more than 4.4 pounds (2 kg), then your order may take six weeks or more to arrive. If you have any questions about this, please contact us at support@bluebookinc.com.

Subscription and CD-ROM Problems

How can I access the online subscription I purchased?

After you have purchased an online subscription, click on "My Account" in the upper right part of the screen on any page on our site. You should be prompted to log in (do so). You will then be shown a page that lists your subscription(s). Click on the ACCESS button next to the subscription you want to access. If you have forgotten your password, you may click the "Reset Password" button. Please only click this button once and wait up to 15 minutes for your new password to be emailed to you. If you have any questions or problems with this process, please contact us at support@bluebookinc.com or 1-800-877-4867, ext. 3.

Why doesn't my CD-ROM work?

All our CD-ROMs work with Windows operating systems. The newer CD-ROMs also work on Mac OS X. Check the product description to determine if the CD-ROM is Mac-compatible. You must also have a web browser installed on your computer to use our CD-ROMs. Most computers will automatically run the CD-ROM when you put it in the CD-ROM drive. Give it a minute or so to start, and if it doesn`t then do the following:

  1. Open Windows Explorer or "My Computer" from your desktop or start menu. Select the drive that has the CD-ROM in it.
  2. Open the GetStarted.htm file with your web browser (example Internet Explorer).

If that process doesn’t run the CD-ROM, please try these instructions:

  1. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer (we are going to browse the CDROM)
  2. Go to your CDROM or DVD Drive
  3. Open the folders on the CDROM drive until you see a folder for every letter of the alphabet (A, B, C ...Z)
  4. Open any "letter folder", you will see a lot of html files with the extension .htm
  5. Right click on any .htm file and select open with Internet Explorer (or whatever web browser you use.)
  6. You are now using the CDROM.  Add to your favorites or bookmark. In the future, all you will have to do is insert the CDROM and go to your favorites or bookmarks.

Gun Appraisals & Evaluations

How can I get an appraisal or an answer to a question I have about a specific gun?

For questions about specific guns (a charge may apply for this service), dial 1-800-877-4867, extension 1600 (John Allen). Gun questions telephone hours are 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Friday, CST, no exceptions please. Phone gun questions are typically answered in five business days or less, unless the research staff has a production commitment or is away attending trade/gun shows.
