BUSHMASTER FIREARMS INTERNATIONAL
Current trademark of carbines, rifles, and pistols established in 1978, currently manufactured in Huntsville, AL, and company headquarters located in Madison, NC. Previously located in Windham, ME until 2011. On March 31, 2011, Freedom Group Inc. announced that Bushmaster's manufacturing facility in Windham, ME would be closing, and new Bushmaster products would be produced in other Freedom Group facilities. The previous company name was Bushmaster Firearms, and the name changed after the company was sold on April 13, 2006 to Cerberus, and became part of the Freedom Group Inc. Older mfg. was by Gwinn Arms Co. located in Winston-Salem, NC 1972-1974. The Quality Parts Co. gained control in 1986. Distributor, dealer, or consumer direct sales.
During 2003, Bushmaster purchased Professional Ordnance, previous maker of the Carbon 15 Series of semi-auto pistols and rifles/carbines. For pre-2003 Carbon 15 manufacture, please refer to the Professional Ordnance section in this text.
Bushmaster formed a custom shop during 2009, and many configurations are now available by special order only. Please contact Bushmaster directly for more information and availability on these special order guns.
