Current trademark with headquarters located in Madison, NC beginning 2010. Currently manufactured by Remington in Ilion, NY beginning early 2011. Previous manufacturer located in North Haven, CT (1969-2010), and in New Haven, CT (1870-1969). The Marlin company manufactured firearms between 1870-2010. Distributor sales only.
On Nov. 10th, 2000, Marlin Firearms Company purchased H&R 1871, Inc. This includes the brand names Harrington & Richardson, New England Firearms, and Wesson & Harrington (please refer to individual sections in this text).
During 2005, Marlin Firearms Company once again started manufacturing a L.C. Smith line of both SxS and O/U shotguns.
Remington Arms Company, Inc. and The Freedom Group acquired Marlin Firearms Company, H&R 1871, LLC., New England Firearms (NEF), and L.C. Smith brand in January of 2008. The Freedom Group, Inc. announced the closure of its Marlin manufacturing facility, located in North Haven, Connecticut. During 2011, production was moved to Ilion, NY. Marlin Firearms Company had been a family-owned and operated business from 1921-2007.
