Sportco was founded by Jack Warne (later the founder of Kimber) in 1947 to manufacture barrels for the Army surplus .303s. The company is best known for its production of the single shot .22 LR cal. Huntsman which started in 1951. After its introduction, various other rimfire and centerfire rifles were manufactured as well.
