.45 ACP or .22 LR (training version) cal., 5 in. barrel, patterned after the Colt M-1911A1 except has pinned trigger, is without grip safety, has different sear mechanism, and distinctive pattern retracting grooves in slide, issued to the Argentine Military and Police (marked on slide), also sold commercially in Latin America, ser. no. stamped on hilt next to magazine floor plate, some also marked with property numbers. MODEL 318

.25 ACP cal., 2 1/2 in. barrel, fixed sights, blue, modifications in the slide legend, grip configuration, and magazine floor plate. Limited production during 1936-37, in ser. no. range 609,000-615,000.

USA-MODEL-HD

.22 LR cal., this model was developed because the government needed a training pistol similar to the Colt Model 1911 .45 ACP, the result was a Model HD with external safety and fixed sight, 4 1/2 in. medium weight barrel, the barrel is marked "Property of USA", black checkered hard rubber grips, first models mfg. had high gloss blue finish, changed to a parkerized finish around ser. no. 128,000 to 130,000. Approx. 34,000 mfg. 1943-1945. C-R.

.45 ACP cal., SA, production began following adoption of this pistol by the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC), Detachment 1 (Det. 1), civilian version with 5 in. barrel, Series I (no firing pin block), carbon steel slide and frame, integral Picatinny light rail, internal extractor, lanyard loop, bumped grip safety, G-10 material grip (coyote brown), wedge night sights, ambidextrous safety, GI length (standard) guide rod finished in black KimPro II, 38 oz. New mid-2004.
