Previous manufacturer located in New Haven, CT. Fiala Arms and Equipment Co. was founded circa 1920 and went bankrupt shortly thereafter. Fiala Outfits, Inc. of New York City, NY reportedly bought the remaining guns, parts, and inventory and sold them between 1922 until approximately 1930. Also see Schall & Co.

.22 LR cal., Fiala Arms and Equipment Co., manual operation, blue finish, interchangeable 3, 7 1/2 (fixed or smoothbore), or 20 (smoothbore optional) in. barrel, optional detachable walnut buttstock early dovetail or screw to frame connection, smooth or ribbed vertical striation walnut grips, rear sight is square notched blade that tips up into an elevated adj. aperture sight, marked "Fiala Arms and Equipment Co. Inc./New Haven Conn./Patents Pending" on right side of frame behind the grip, and "MODEL 1920/Made in U.S.A." on the right side of the frame above the trigger guard, left side of frame marked "FIALA ARMS" above the image of a polar bear with "TRADE MARK" below polar bear in area above the trigger guard. Most Fialas have serial numbers between 1 and 5566 with a few outliers in the 8000 range. The Columbia marked guns are scattered in the lower Fiala serial number range between 1059 and 2837.
