GRISEL, H.L.

H.L. "Pete" Grisel co-founded Dakota Arms in 1986, and was a founding member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild. He built many custom rifles using actions of various types, including six using his own proprietary action. Grisel designed the Dakota 76 action and built some of Dakota's early guns, including the Leupold 40th anniversary rifle. Grisel also designed the Kimber Model K770 bolt action prototype, which Kimber never put into production. Grisel retired from gunmaking circa 2006-2007 and passed away on Dec. 1, 2017. Since Grisel guns were essentially custom made, each gun should be evaluated individually in order to determine value and shootability.
