MARLIN FIREARMS COMPANY

Current trademark produced since 1870. Firearms are currently produced by Sturm, Ruger, & Co. since 2021. Previously produced in New Haven, CT between 1870 and 2010, and in Ilion, NY by Remington between 2011 and 2020.
John Marlin founded the Marlin Firearms Company in 1870 by initially offering rimfire derringers in .22, .32, and .38 cal. In 1881, Marlin introduced their first lever action rifle in larger calibers .45-70 and .38-55. The company continued to grow with several releases in the late 1880s and 1890s.
On Nov. 10th, 2000, Marlin Firearms Company purchased H&R 1871, Inc. This includes the brand names Harrington & Richardson, New England Firearms, and Wesson & Harrington.
In 2005, Marlin Firearms Company once again started manufacturing an L.C. Smith line of both SxS and O/U shotguns.
Remington Arms Company, Inc. and The Freedom Group acquired Marlin Firearms Company, H&R 1871, LLC., New England Firearms (NEF), and L.C. Smith brand in January, 2008.
In 2011, production at the New Haven, CT facility halted and moved to Remington's facility in Ilion, NY.
In July 2020, Remington Outdoor Group filed for bankruptcy, ceased production of all firearms, and sold off all their trademarks. Sturm, Ruger, & Co. bought the Marlin trademark in September 2020. In late 2021, Ruger introduced their first Marlin-built rifle with the Model 1895 SBL.
