UMAREX

Initially, the company was founded to produce look alike over the counter guns, after a more restrictive gun law was introduced in Germany. Umarex first manufactured tear gas and signal pistols, and then started producing air rifles. After acquiring Reck Sportwaffen Fabrick Karl Arndt in 1979, the company was reorganized under the Umarex name. Umarex purchased Walther during 1993, and also manufactures ammunition, optics, and accessories. During 2006, Umarex purchased Hämmerli, and production equipment was moved from Lenzburg, Switzerland to Ulm, Germany. During mid-2006, Umarex purchased RUAG Ammotec USA Inc., and moved the company to Fort Smith, AR, and the company's name was changed to Umarex USA. During 2008, Colt Industries licensed Umarex to manufacture the Colt AR-15 in .22 LR cal. From 2009-2018, H&K licensed Umarex to manufacture replicas in .22 LR cal. During 2011, Colt Industries licensed Umarex to manufacture a Govt. 1911-A1 Model in .22 LR cal. These guns were previously imported exclusively by Umarex USA located in Fort Smith, AR until 2013. Since then all firearm products produced by Umarex GmbH & Co. KG. and imported into the U.S. are sold and marketed by Walther Arms, Inc., a subsidiary of Carl Walther, Germany, located on the same premises as Umarex USA in Fort Smith.
