The company was controlled by the descendants of William Powell I until 2008. Previous company names were William Powell & Sons Gunmakers Ltd., and William Powell & Sons (until 2018). No current U.S. importation. Previously imported 1999-2002 by John Higgins, located in Richmond Hill, GA, and by Bells Legendary Countrywear located in New York, NY, until 1999. The Heritage Series was introduced into the U.S. in 1984.
During 2002, William Powell & Sons celebrated their 200th anniversary, and are one of England's oldest premier gunmakers. The company was sold to Mark and Christine Osborne in January 2008. The Osbornes had, with Sir Edward Dashwood, started West Wycombe Shooting Ground in 1991 and subsequently acquired and successfully revived the previously dormant E. J. Churchill Firm of Gunmakers.
