MANNLICHER SCHOENAUER SPORTING RIFLES

Originally manufactured by Oesterreich Waffenfabrik-Gesellschaft in Steyr, Austria from 1900 until the occupation of Austria by Germany in 1938. The current manufacturer is Steyr-Mannlicher, also of Steyr, Austria. Products made from 1972 to date are listed under Steyr-Mannlicher current production. Only a few sporting rifles were produced during the war period and were marked "Made in Germany". Production started again in 1950 with serial number 1 until 1973 with serial number 61154. The last rifle was manufactured in 7x64 cal.

8x57mm or 7x64mm cal., these models were available from 1956 to 1968 and featured custom engraving of the metalwork and stock woodcarving. Some versions were also made for the market and such adornments were provided per the craftsmen at Steyr. These usually included individual engraved animal insets on the floorplate, receiver ring, and trigger guard, woodcarving in the oak leaf style, and wild animal figures on the buttstock. Gold inlays were available as well as monograms. All of these rifles offered single or double set triggers, and Steyr factory scope mounts, which were also engraved. Over a dozen standard engraving designs were offered for these rifles in any chambering.
.243 Win. or .30-06 cal., an MCA-1961 variant, offered between 1965 and 1968 as a version between the standard Mannlicher-Schoenauer and the Premier. It featured an engraved bolt handle and tasteful oak leaf carving on the pistol grip and forend. The Alpine was offered in carbine length only.
