BUSHMASTER ARM PISTOL Description
5.56mmx45 cal., long stroke GPO, bullpup configuration, 11 1/2 in. barrel, 30 shot mag., aluminum frame or steel frame on later mfg., adj. sights, top charging (older models with aluminum receivers) or side mounted charging handle (most recent mfg.), parkerized, electroless nickel (disc. 1988), or matte nickel (mfg. circa 1986-1988) finish, 5 1/4 lbs. Original mfg. by Gwinn Arms Co. beginning circa 1972-1974. Disc. circa 1988.
This model uses a 30 shot M-16/AR-15 mag. and long stroke gas piston operating system.
During 1985-1986, a procurement officer for the U.S. Air Force ordered 2,100 of this model for pilot use with a matte nickel finish. Eventually, this officer was retired or transferred, and the replacement officer turned down the first batch, saying they were "too reflective". Bushmaster then sold these models commercially circa 1986-1988.
