ENFIELD REVOLVER MK I & II Description

.450 Adams or .455 Enfield cal., 6 shot, hinged barrel with exposed knuckle-joint axis front, top brake action w/forward-sliding chamber for extraction. Mk I model (chequered grips) introduced in 1880, Mk II variant (plain wooden grips) introduced in 1882.

Often called the ".476", which was a commercial ammunition designation. Designed by American Owen Jones and made at Enfield R.S.A.F., it was not liked due to its sliding chamber extraction and cumbersome proportions.
