The Model 669 was introduced in 1985 beginning with serial number TAE 0001. The gun had a stainless steel slide and barrel with aluminum alloy frame. The first 100 guns were set aside for special orders; 25 of these were class "A" engraved by an outside contractor and marked "1 of 25." It took ten years for all of these engraved guns to be sold. In 1988 the Model 669 was discontinued and replaced by the Model 6906. Total production of the Model 669 was 54,074 pistols.
