DAVID MCKAY BROWN DAVID MCKAY BROWN COMPANY HISTORY

David McKay Brown was born in 1941 in the mining town of Bellshil, and began his gunmaking career in 1958 as an apprentice with Alexander Martin, Ltd. in Glasgow. When Dickson purchased Martin in the early 1960s, McKay Brown trained in Edinburgh, and completed his apprenticeship making the firm's famous round action.
McKay Brown set himself up independently in March of 1967 in Hamilton, near Glasgow. He continued working for Dickson until establishing himself as an individual gunmaker building round actions under his own name in 1974. By 1980, the company had moved to Bothwell, near Glasgow. In 1992, David McKay Brown registered an O/U design and began making guns a year later.
