ASTRA

Previous manufacturer located in Guernica, Spain. Astra was one of the oldest and most widely recognized trademarks in Spain, with a history dating back to 1908. Though arms were manufactured for many years by Unceta y Compania, S.A., located in Guernica, Spain, corporate reorganization resulted in renaming the same firm Astra-Guernica, S.A. (1995-1997), and Astra Sport Guerniquesa de Mecanizado Tratamiento y Montaje de Armas, S.A. (1997-1998).
Although Astra had hoped to acquire Star patents and relocate to a smaller facility, the efforts were not successful. Foreclosure sealed the factory doors in July, 1998. Inventory, including the "factory collection", was released for sale in 1999.
