The Bretton trademark was established in 1934, and specialized in Baby lightweight shotguns. Gaucher dates back to 1834, and specialized in Express double rifles. Gaucher merged with Bretton in 2000, and the new company name became Bretton-Gaucher.
During 1997, Gaucher released four shooting rifles with unique sound suppression (approx. 71 dB) in 9mm Para., 12mm cal., or .410 bore. Additionally, Gaucher manufactured rifles (O/U and SxS double, bolt action rimfire, and semi-auto rimfire), shotguns (SxS, single shot), and .22 LR cal. target pistols.
