In the U.S., FN (Fabrique Nationale) is represented by two entities - FNH USA, which is responsible for sales, marketing, and business development, and FNM, which stands for FN Manufacturing, which handles manufacturing. FNH USA has two separate divisions - commercial/law enforcement and military operations. FN Manufacturing is located in Columbia, SC. Design, research, and development are conducted under the authority of FN Herstal S.A. In mid-2014, it was announced that the consolidation of FN Manufacturing LLC and FNH USA LLC would be called FN America LLC, and headquarters would remain in McLean, VA.
Some of the firearms that FNM currently produces for the U.S. government are M16 rifles, M249 light machine guns, and M240 medium machine guns. FNM also produces the FNP line of handguns for the commercial, military, and law enforcement marketplaces. FNM is one of only three small arms manufacturers designated by the U.S. government as an industry base for small arms production. In November 2004, the FN model was chosen by the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for the new SCAR military rifle.
FN America LLC manufactures a full suite of firearms for civilian sales, including handguns, shotguns, bolt action rifles, and AR-15 style rifles and pistols.
