Howa Machinery Limited manufactures Japanese defense force assault rifles, Weatherby Vanguard rifle actions, and rifles and shotguns for Smith & Wesson. Also produced small numbers of extremely high grade CO2 rifles (styled like the Weatherby Mark V semi-auto rifle, reportedly to induce Weatherby to distribute them in the USA) in the mid-1970s.
