VALMET

Former governmental engineering works, later famous for fine sporting and military firearms, such as the Model 58 Kalashnikov assault rifle. Merged with Sako in 1987 to become Sako-Valmet. Previous trade name of Valmet Oy located in Jyväskylä, Finland. Manufacture of Valmet firearms was replaced by Tikka circa 1989.
