Peter H. Finnegan from Springfield, MA obtained the patent rights for the Protector Palm Pistol revolver from the Minneapolis Fire Arms Co. circa 1892. Protector Palm Pistol revolver production by the Ames Sword Co. began after some design changes which included a slight size increase, reshaped action bar, added trigger shaped safety to finger tab and some minor interior action changes circa 1892-1897. The Ames Sword Co. received ownership of Chicago Fire Arms Co. Protector Palm Pistol revolvers in a legal settlement with P.H. Finnegan circa 1894. While all Protector Palm Pistol revolvers manufacture ended circa 1897, sales of remaining inventory lasted into circa 1910.
Chicago Firearms Co. located in Chicago, IL, circa 1880-1884 and circa 1892-1897. First manufactured the Creedmore revolvers and later is the trade name found on Protector Palm Pistol revolvers manufactured by Ames Sword Company of Chicopee Falls, MA, circa 1892-1897.
