The Bridgeport entity was the sales organization for Lee's bolt action rifles.
James Paris Lee is perhaps most recognized for developing the Lee magazine, which could be quickly reloaded with either single cartridges or with up to 5 rounds, similar to the Lee and Mannlicher en bloc system. This Lee magazine was adaptable to a variety of cartridges and bolt actions, regardless of bullet shape or cartridge length. The Lee Model 1879 was a landmark rifle design, which was adopted by both the U.S. Navy and China.
Located in Stevens Point, WI 1862-1864, Milwaukee, WI 1864-1868, Ilion, NY 1869-1880, and Bridgeport, CT 1880-1910.
