MARLIN

Remington Arms Company, Inc. and The Freedom Group acquired Marlin Firearms Company, H&R 1871, LLC., New England Firearms (NEF), and L.C. Smith brand in January of 2008. The Freedom Group, Inc. announced the closure of its Marlin manufacturing facility, located in North Haven, Connecticut. During 2011, production was moved to Ilion, NY. Marlin Firearms Company had been a family-owned and operated business from 1921-2007. In 2011, production at the New Haven, CT facility halted and moved to Remington's facility in Ilion, NY.
In July 2020, Remington Outdoor Group filed for bankruptcy, ceased production of all firearms, and sold off all their trademarks. Sturm, Ruger, & Co. bought the Marlin trademark in September 2020. In late 2021, Ruger introduced their first Marlin-built rifle with the Model 1895 SBL.

Current trademark produced since 1870, however no current black powder models are being manufactured. Previously manufactured by Remington in lion, NY from 2011-2020. Previous manufacturer located in North Haven, CT (1969-2010), and in New Haven, CT (1870-1969). Modern firearms are currently produced by Sturm, Ruger, & Co. since 2021.
