.22 LR cal., 6 5/8 in. barrel, 10 shot mag., blue only, bottom mag. release, checkered wood grips, adj. front and rear sights, this model was officially named "Colt Automatic Pistol, Caliber .22 Target Model", magazine base has 2-line legend "CAL .22" "COLT". Standard velocity ammo. only. Approx. 54,000 mfg. 1915-1927.
BEWARE: Because the early guns were used with corrosive ammo, many of them developed bad bores and have since been refitted with later barrels.
This model was manufactured to use standard velocity ammunition only (not high speed). Colt did offer a conversion kit for high velocity ammunition after the transition to high velocity in 1931.
