HARTFORD SINGLE SHOT TARGET Description
.22 LR cal., frame marked "MANFD. BY THE HARTFORD ARMS & EQUIP. CO HARTFORD, CONN. PATENTED 22 CAL. LONG RIFLE”, on the left side in front of the breech, 6 3/4 in. barrel, single shot manual operation, fixed sights, ribbed/vertical striation walnut, resembles a semi-auto but no provisions for a magazine.
High Standard assembled the pistols with slight improved modifications a number of these models in 1932 and 1933 with the majority sold by J.L. Galef & Son, Inc. These guns were manufactured from Hartford parts and carried the Hartford Arms roll mark. Boxes for High Standard manufactured guns carry on the box top label both the High Standard and Hartford names. Hartford production is unknown, but probably less than 800. High Standard production was less than 900 pistols. Early models have an "S" prefix serial number. The highest serial number known with the "S" prefix is S439. It is not currently known if this was a separate series.
