.416 Barrett (new 2010) or .50 BMG cal., short recoil operating system, variant of the original Model 82, 20, 29 (new late 1989), or 33 (disc. 1989) in. fluted (current mfg.) or unfluted (disc.) barrel, muzzle brake (current mfg.), 10 shot detachable or fixed (.416 Barrett cal. only) mag., backup iron sights, current mfg. includes 23 in. elevated M1913 optics rail, watertight case, and cleaning kit, black anodized (disc.), Burnt Bronze (mfg. 2018-2020), OD Green (mfg. 2018-2020, .416 Barrett only), manganese phosphate (new 2020), Tungsten Gray (mfg. 2018-2020), or FDE Cerakote (new 2013) finish, 32 1/2 lbs. for 1989 and older mfg., approx. 30 lbs. for 1990 mfg. and newer.
This model boasts official U.S. military rifle (M107) status following government procurement during Operation Desert Storm. In 1992, a new "arrowhead" shaped muzzle brake was introduced to reduce recoil.
