- BB/.175 cal. (smoothbore), barrel under the body tube, wooden pumping rod with operation instructions pasted onto it, receiver with a flat, vertical rear face, trigger guard cast as part of receiver, stock stamped: "Benjamin Air Rifle Company". Extremely rare.
This is the first Benjamin – referred to as "The Benjamin Air Rifle" by Walter Benjamin.
Evidently, there were at least three other very different appearing, unsuccessful variations of the Model "A" patent in the 1903-1906 period. These were designated by Walter Benjamin as the Models 9 and 10, numbers which refer to design levels beginning in the St. Louis Air Rifle Company, and the "Benjamin Repeating Air Rifle." These variations use the same valve arrangement, and also have the barrel underneath the body tube, but have a gently sloping top surface behind the body tube. These variations presently are known only from Walter Benjamin´s scrapbook.
