originally numbered with numerical digits only, with the first letter prefix or suffix used in ser. no., beginning in mid-1969 with the letter "E".
Early production Pythons (serial numbered without a letter prefix or suffix) with 4 or 6 in. barrels, fully checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions, and Accro flat-top sights will command a substantial premium. Pythons with 3-digit serial numbers or lower in excellent condition are currently commanding a higher premium than other early examples.
