Editor's Note: A study of 1970s and 1980s Colt catalogs revealed that only two finishes were offered for the Combat Commander. These were Colt Blue and Satin Nickel. However, it is known that a third finish was also available; Royal Coltguard (also known as Coltguard, Electroless Nickel & E-Nickel). Satin Nickel and Royal Coltguard have a similar texture to their finish but vary slightly in color, with the Royal Coltguard finish having a slightly yellow/gold cast. Order of scarcity beginning with the most common finish is Colt Blue-Satin Nickel-Royal Coltguard.
