CZ 531 was the firm's initial departure from the Brno-type (improved Mauser) centerfire rifle designs. Only .30-06 cal. rifles have been observed. Not until the introduction of CZ 555 in 2006 did CZ return to the push-feed style (short extractor, plunger ejector) action.
