.52 cal., lockplate marked "U.S." and "H. FERRY" with date, single shot, breech loader, 32 5/8 in. round rifled barrel with 1 1/2 in. of muzzle reamed smooth, breech marked "J.H. HALL/H. FERRY/1824/U.S." (Type 1), "J.H. HALL/H. FERRY/U.S. date" dated from 1826 through 1838 (Type 2), or "J.H. HALL/U.S./date" dated from 1837 through 1840 (Type 3), 3 barrel bands fastened with springs (early) and pins (later), combination front sight/bayonet lug, offset fixed sights, iron mountings, browned lacquer finish, walnut full stock, polished steel 16 1/2 in. bayonet, tilting hinged breech block, steel ramrod with flared end. Mfg. circa 1817-1840. RF=1.
