TOPPER MODEL HISTORY Description

the Topper name was applied to a large series of single barrel shotguns, therefore there were several different models that used the Topper name starting with the Model 48 in 1943 and continuing through the early Model 058/098. All other single barrel shotguns are variations of these basic models except for the Hammerless Model manufactured between 1925 and 1942. The Topper name was last used in the 1974 catalog. The Model 088 was actually introduced in 1979 but did not become the main line model until 1982. The Topper name has also been used by New England Firearms and H&R 1871 after the purchase by Marlin, but these models are not considered true H&R Topper single barrel shotguns.
