.45-70 Govt. cal., 32 1/2 in. barrel, serial number range 50001 - 54000, front and rear sights are of the US Springfield pattern, over 3,400 were accepted by the US Navy from 1888 to 1894, marked on the receiver ring - USN over anchor over Navy serial number over US Navy inspector, the Naval serial numbers range from 1001 to over 4000, the Navy inspectors are: WWK, HHE, ACD, CEC, HE, and SWV, a few rifles were issued without being inspected.
