Mark II 3* Description

.303 Brit. cal., 28 in. barrel, most commonly encountered example, includes 20,000 sold to U.S. with flaming bomb proofmark added, found with the Canada Tool barrel sight, U.S. contract rifles were fitted with a "Kerr NOBUCKL" sling in the U.S.

The scarce U.S. sub-variation was shortened by approx. 7/8 in. and has a rechambered barrel. This model is seldom seen and commands a premium, particularly if still fitted with the unique MkI bayonet with the "cranked" crossguard. Suspicions are that a small run was modified and then used by rifle teams.
