.50-70 metallic cartridge, 35 1/2 in. barrels, color case hardened receiver, all other metal parts bright finish, approx. 1,000 rifles altered by Springfield Armory to fire .50-70 metallic cartridge, in addition to those done by Sharps Co., own ser. range, and numbered on receiver tang and left side of barrel.
