.38 Spl. cal., 5 shot, J-frame, round or square (disc. 1991) butt, 1 7/8 in. regular or 3 in. (heavy only, disc. 1994, reintroduced 2008-2009) barrel, case colored frame (mfg. 2008-2009), blue or nickel (disc. 1992, reintroduced 2008-2012) finish, 19-1/2 oz. Disc. 1999, reintroduced 2008 as part of S&W's Classic Firearms series. Later production rated for +P when built on J Magnum frame in 1996.
