In 1971, approximately 500 Model 39-2s were shipped to West Germany without barrels. The pistols were fitted with 7.65mm barrels in West Germany, then proofed and shipped to an Italian distributor for commercial sales in Italy. The slides, barrels, and frames of these guns all have the West German 1971 Ulm Proof House Marks. Three of these guns were imported by Sarco in 1995, serial numbers A129214, A129498, and one unknown. There is one other 7.65mm Model 39 known (serial number A166311) which had smooth grips, nickel finish, and is w/o German Proof Marks.
