.22 LR cal., 4 3/4 in. tapered barrel with blue finish, features a crest rollmarked on top of the chamber that is similar to Ruger's 50th Anniversary trademark, but with the words "RUGER NRA WILLIAM B. RUGER ENDOWMENT 1916 2002", William B. Ruger signature is rollmarked on top of the receiver near the ejection port, additional Ruger eagle logo is rollmarked on rear of bolt. Known SN range NRA-00000 to NRA-21916. Sold exclusively through Davidson's.
SN NRA-0000 is on display at the NRA Firearms Museum. All other regular production guns had surcharge placed on them which was then submitted to the NRA William B. Ruger Endowment. For those numbered NRA-00001 through NRA-00005, a $5,000 donation was asked. Numbers NRA-00006 through NRA-00010, each had a $2,500 surcharge added onto the price of the gun, and numbers NRA-00011 through NRA-00500 were each sold with an additional $100 surcharge going to the endowment. Any number from NRA-00501 and up were sold with a $25 surcharge added for the Ruger endowment. About 21,500 of this variation (with checkered white plastic grips) were produced as were an additional 1,700+ with cocobolo grips (known SN range NRA12544 to NRA23572).
