S/N 90000) then blue finish became standard, originally available as single shot carbine, plain sporting rifle (Standard Model), special sporting rifle (Deluxe Model) or special target models (Special Single Shot or Schuetzen Rifle), trigger guard activated high or low wall falling block action, single shot, blue 24 in. - 30 in. round or octagon standard barrel length with special order weights and up to 36 in. available, single or double set trigger, oil or varnish finished walnut stock and forearm with straight or pistol grip and carbine, rifle, shotgun, or Schuetzen type buttplate. Over 139,725 mfg. circa 1885-1920.

This was John Browning's first high power single shot rifle design and was originally mfg. as the Model 1878 by the Browning Brothers in Ogden, UT, in the early 1880s. Fewer than 600 were mfg. - see the Browning section for more information and values. Antique mfg. to approx. S/N 79000.
