.32 rimfire Extra Short cal., 3 in. octagonal barrel, 5 shot mag. located under the barrel and loads from the muzzle, spur trigger, walnut (standard), rosewood, ivory, or pearl grips, breech block/cartridge carrier mechanism positioned next to hammer, barrel marked "E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, N.Y./Riders Pat. Aug. 15, 1871", nickel plating is most frequently encountered. Limited mfg. 1871-1888.
Beware of faked blued finish. Most of these models were engraved, and a non-engraved specimen, while rare, is not necessarily more desirable.
