.22 Short rimfire cal., 6 shot, 3 in. 6 barrel cluster (rotating), ring trigger, blue barrel finish/silver frame most commonly encountered, two-piece Gutta Percha (hard rubber) grips. Fewer than 1,000 produced, long production from 1861 to early 1870s indicated by several nickel examples found in higher serial numbers, became obsolete nearly immediately with the introduction of the simpler design and cost of the Elliott 5 shot. Reputed to be Remington's first cartridge handgun. William Elliot's patent, desirable. RF=4.
