.22, .32 (most common), or .41 rimfire cal., single shot single action, side pivoting 2 1/2 in. barrel marked "J.M. MARLIN, NEW HAVEN, CT. PAT. APRIL 5, 1870" in three lines on right side and "NEVER MISS" on top, spur trigger, brass frame with fluted lower front sides, either blue barrel and nickel/silver plated frame or completely plated, most typically encountered with fluted silver plated frame, blued barrel, and bird's head rosewood grips, extractor. Approx. 5,000 mfg. 1870-1882. RF=4 (.22 cal.), RF=3 (.32 cal.), and RF=4 (.41 cal.).
