REMINGTON MODEL 700 ETRONX VS SF Description
.220 Swift (electronic primer), .22-250 Rem. (electronic primer), or .243 Win. (electronic primer) cal., features patented EtronX technology utilizing an electronic discharge for virtually instant cartridge ignition, CPU located in stock incorporates standard 9V battery, and allows electric signal to be passed through a ceramic coated firing pin, which in turn activates the specially designed electronic primer. There are no moving parts in this system, and therefore, nothing to delay ignition. Electronic trigger mechanism enables almost zero lock time. LED on top of grip indicates system status (fire or safe mode), chamber status (loaded or not loaded), low battery indicator, and any possible system malfunction. 26 in. heavy stainless steel barrel with black flutes, alumiunum bedding, Kevlar reinforced composite stock with matte black finish, 8 7/8 lbs. Mfg. late 1999-2003.
This model can fire only EtronX ammunition which used an electronic primer. Remington still manufactures EtronX ammunition in .22-250 Rem. and .220 Swift only.
Because the EtronX ignition system used an electronic primer the same size as a standard rifle primer, reloading was no different than using standard cases, powder, and bullets. The only thing that changed was the electronic primer. Ammunition is now scarce, but EtronX primers are still available from Remington.
