.25 Rem., .30 Rem., .32 Rem., or .35 Rem. cal., 22 in. barrel, open sights, 5 shot non-detachable box mag., plain stock. Approx. 60,000 mfg. 1906-1936.
Early Model 8's that were modified by the Peace Officer Equipment Co. (POE RIFLES) are extremely rare. They were available in both .30 Rem. and .35 Rem. cals., but .35 Rem. is the most commonly encountered. Unlike most aftermarket modifications that detract from value, these modifications with their magazine greatly enhance the value. Prices generally grange from about $3,000 to $8,000 depending on originality and condition. Some rifles have no additional markings while some have had different markings added by the local police jurisditions, municipalities, prisons or owners, even if only an inventory or rack number.
