.433, .45, or.50 cal., centerfire, rolling block action type, 20 1 /2 in. round blued barrel, tang marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CO. PATENTED OCT 17 '65, RE-IS'D JUNE 25, '72. DEC 26 '65-RE-IS-'D OCT 1, '67, MAY 15 '66, JULY 16 '72", military sights, black walnut stock, saddle ring and bar on left side of frame, case colored lock and hammer. Approx. 5,000, purchased by Mexican govt. circa 1871-1881.
This model was contracted by the Mexican government and is generally observed with having an oval stamp, sunburst emblem,and liberty cap with "RM" in large bold lettering on the barrel.
