RICHMOND ARMORY


The Richmond Armory manufactured .58 caliber percussion carbines, musketoons, and rifle-muskets of the U.S. Model 1855 Rifle and Rifle-Musket configuration. The machinery and parts captured at the Harpers Ferry Armory in April, 1861 were moved to the Richmond Armory and used in the manufacture of these longarms. The Richmond Armory was the largest producer of these Confederate models.
