MODEL 1867 ARMY RIFLES AND CARBINES Description
.50 Spencer cal., Spencer's patent cut-off on the top of the receiver and roll-stamped "SPENCER REPEATING/RIFLE CO.BOSTON MASS./PAT'D MARCH 6, 1860", 7 shot, 20 in. round barrel, block front sight and folding leaf rear sight with 1,000 yard center notch, military blue finish barrel and case hardened barrel band, receiver, sideplate, hammer, breech block, lever and buttplate, smooth walnut straight grip buttstock and forearm, oil-finished, sling swivels on barrel band and stock, bright-finished sling ring and bar on the left side of the receiver and stock.
In 1867, the Spencer factory produced approx. 1,000 M1867 Army rifles and 12,000 carbines. All were intended for private domestic or foreign military sales.
